Hope for Haiti Newsletter April 2012

     A Time to Pause

Seasons in our lives, this one to say good bye or better yet, see you later. Prospere Profit seen to the right passed away Easter Sunday morning. This dear brother from Charrette was a humble servant that liked to be in the background just taking care of whatever needed attention. People from all over came to share in a very special farewell this past Sunday. Charrette in what we might call the foothills just east of St Marc, was a vision that Prospere was a part of from the start. Meeting under a tree no so many years ago, the community mocked the Christians, but, they stood fast. Now a church building and school make there presence known with over 360 children in attendance. God heard the cries of the saints there, Prospere being one of them, one that set an example that will not soon be forgotten. Over 1000 people gathered to share, grieve and rejoice remembering seeing the light of Christ shine through this man. He was described this way, “an example to follow, full of integrity, compassionate, always there, always giving financially out of his poverty, a blessing” to name a few.

The school still awaits completion needing stucco, paint, windows and doors but the example has been set and a legacy will follow as this man was contagious, that is contagious with the Lord's love.

Please pray with our brother's and sister's as they grieve this tremendous loss.

Today a group from Michigan is working their way home after a week with Marcel. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. (Prov 19:21) A funeral Sunday for Prospere, and next door to the church another family grieves a loss. Recently a 37 year old neighbor that has been ill committed his life to the Lord. This past week he went home to see his Maker. The church had already come alongside to help the family and continues even now to help carry the load that they bear. So the plans that were made which seemed good to man, came with a few adjustments and compassion from the Michigan group. For such a time as this.

So much more to share... Check out the links for additional info

A bit of Colmini Haiti

The growth here in desert just north and a bit west of St Marc, Haiti is amazing.  You can see it in the faces, it's much more than just physical growth.  Not to mention the multiplication of, well, you'll just have to watch to see.  God is good!

Twins Update

Two months ago we shared a story about twins that arrived as a medical team was with Marcel.  As the Lord opened the door our Dr friend was able to join a team that visited Haiti with us about a week ago.  The little ones are thriving and growing.  We did find out on this trip, that it just so happened that when one of the little ones arrived, he was not breathing, so a breath of life was administered just as the Lord planned it.  Who knows how the Lord might use you on a trip like this, just as He used our precious friend here to nudge this little one to breath.  Click on the picture for additional photo's of the little ones as well as photo's from the team trip.

Walking with a child

These are a few of the children at Fond Baptist Church/School that are sponsored.  Through sponsor's they have material for new uniforms.  So many children in these rural areas never have an opportunity to go to school, and many of the areas in the mountains have very limited access to any school.  Thank you sponsor's for blessing these children through your prayers and support.  Who knows we may be looking at the next leaders of this area or country that will make a difference for an eternity?  Keep the prayers coming!

Transformation

While at Fond Baptist market this past week, Marcel caught this image as these guys were reforming this pick head.  First the heat then the transformation.  Sometimes we may feel we are in the fire, could it be in preparation for a transformation in us?  Click on the photo for additional images from market day or visit www.hopeforhaiti.ws .

A dream come true

As Marcel gathered with a few others to go to market it was to bring about the fulfillment of a promise.  The photo's really tell the story best.  Marcel's quote on the picture here speaks for itself.  About a year ago a promise was made to help purchase 5 cows for Bataille Church/School.  It's done!
