Departure

Heading home from Haiti is always a bittersweet time. This morning the team from Colorado started the journey back after saying their goodbyes. Yesterday they not only purchased 7 goats but helped in the delivery to the families. In addition those that sponsor children met them and visited as many of their homes as possible. A bittersweet time indeed...

Goats part 2

Yesterday we mentioned the goats to be purchased. So how did that come about? Many contributed to the needs for the group that is in Haiti right now and for the needs that were brought to their attention. The rest of the story is that some felt the need to send funds that could be used for a unspecified purpose, just ask the Lord where he would want it to go. Five contributed and with that 7 families will be blessed with a goat that will help to provide, milk, cheese and butter but, even more than that, hope. Oh yes, two of the contributors were children - "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3 & 4)

Goats

Colmini is in the desert area north of St Marc about a half hours drive. As you drive or pass through this area it would seem that there is little to be found. The original School/Church that was built there through EMEVI was for 50 children but when it was time to "register" children, 150 showed up. It was time to stretch the walls and a additional classroom was set up outside so they could accommodate 75 children. Since that time another larger building has been constructed and at this time about 230 children are in school there. Teams from previous trips have helped install windows, build a cistern, build benches and put up a gate. A team is presently in St Marc and will be funding the purchase of 7 goats for families in the Colmini area! What a blessing as the ministry continues to touch more and more people in this area. Want to see more? Click on the links to the right with the name Colmini.

Watching and waiting

These children are curious and watch everything that you do. These children are at Charrette where 4 new classrooms will be built in a few days. These classrooms will provide new opportunities allowing classes that are held outside to move in under a roof. Consider joining a team visiting these precious children and seeing the land they live in.

Baptism

Each year as the churches of EMEVI gather for their annual "Camp Meeting" there are baptism's. Starting the 30th of April Camp Meeting 2009 will begin. Please pray for this important time, as over 1000 people gather not only from the churches, but from the community as well.

Benches

Just one of the many projects that a mission team might be assigned to, bench building. In about a week a team from Colorado will be working on building 4 classrooms at Charrette. An answer to prayer as the Lord has opened the door to meet the needs for some of the "least of these".

Church Truck/Bus...

This past Sunday at Bois Neuf the folks loaded up for a ride home or at least near to home. This new vehicle provides the opportunity for many additional folks to be picked up and dropped off for church. This is just one on many blessings this vehicle brings.

New used truck

Pa Pe Poze - Do not fear, No panic, Be still, taken from Exodus 14:13 & 14. When all about you seems in chaos, look to His word. This is a message Marcel wants to spread throughout Haiti. With this new truck being driven all over in Haiti many will see that message. Thanks to all who have made this new vehicle a possibility.

A day in the life...

We like to call it Haitian time. You plan your day, make preparations, gather what's needed, clean water, tools, lunch fixings, hat, sunscreen and you feel like you are ready to go. Hopefully you have had a good night's sleep and you are excited for the day ahead, I'm ready to see what the day holds. Then it happens.... ah, well, the transportation may be delayed or there's a flat tire, the truck will not turn over, someone else that is coming has been delayed, the sky open's up and it's pouring rain and on it goes. Of course all this could and does happen anywhere but while in Haiti there is not always a back up plan, so you wait. Time to shelf the schedule and see just what His timing will be.

During these times of waiting I am reminded -

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27:12 and I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. Ps 130:5

Thank you Lord for your reminders that there are times we need to wait.

Sleeping child

Just like home children can sleep anywhere. This little one finally took a break enjoying the shade.

Up in smoke

The lack of infrastructure probably contributed to the total loss of this building to fire. The next day Marcel was ministering to a man who's business was located here in downtown St Marc.

Battery back up

At Marcel's house he also has power available. When it's on he charges batteries for use later. Through donations he has an inverter to use these batteries for lighting.

Preaching

Marcel shares here at Bois Neuf, preaching the word. Yes those are lights and they are on, but it's from a generator. Feeling blessed that there is a generator and fuel for it.

School at Fond Baptist

The school at Fond Baptist had been closed due to lack of funding. This past January on faith it was opened back up and today is partially supported. 71 children attend with two teachers in this remote area of Haiti. Uniforms will wait but their education moves forward. Marcel stands in the back center encouraged to see what the Lord is doing. Thank you for helping to make this not only a possibility but a realty for these precious children.
