Remember

“Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told” (Habakkuk 1:5).

As we remember the earthquake anniversary, we pray for the people who never saw family members again.  We pray for community to come around those who fled the city in the months afterwards.  However, we also pray for God to again wake up the people to his power and care.  This scene in downtown St. Marc is from when the believers gathered to pray for their country days after the quake.  May God keep that spirit of unity as we remember.

Final day of Faces

The need before us is real.  The hands to put all this together are there.  People come from miles around to help, using the gifting's they have to bless others.  These are not paid workers but volunteer's reaching out to meet a need.  This just may be the season of change leading to a future and a hope.  Children that are willing and wanting an education and are hungry for what the Lord has for them.  What will it take?  Brothers and Sister's coming together to meet a need, reaching out in love.

Making a living.
A few years ago snapped this photo of a man and his cart.  It may not look like much, but this is how he makes his living.  This particular photo was taken in St Marc not far from the ocean.  Anyone want to help push for a while?  My job is looking a pretty good at the moment.  Would you like to reach out and make a difference?  Contact us at Hope for Haiti.

Clinic Days.  This past month Dr Susan and Nurse Vonie teamed up for multiple clinic's around the St Marc area.  Not many years ago clinic's were only a dream.  Now with Nurse Vonie weekly visits to some of the EMEVI areas are a realty.  The Lord opened the doors wide to meet the needs of His people as they have cried out for help.  Clinic's are happening multiple times a year as some gifted Dr's have made this a priority in their lives.  Care to help support this ministry?  Let us know at Hope for Haiti.  Like to see some additional photo's of the clinic's to include the twins?  Click here

Bataille School has been growing!  About 160 children now attend in this remote setting in Haiti.  Two churches here in the states and a number of individuals are helping to support this much needed school and education that comes with it.  The current church/school was built out of local trees, rock and mud with the addition of roofing that was hand carried in.  A short slideshow/video clip  of that building may be seen by clicking here and clicking on the launch media player button then to Bataille coming together.  The story continues to be written as these "Forgotten Ones" can shed that name for a new day is being written.  A trail has been built from the river basin to the mountain top to the south.  A ravine along the trail will soon be bridged which will allow for additional supplies to reach this beautiful setting.  Supplies that set the stage for a new building to accommodate the school needs as well as the church.  Sand, rock will be collected from the river to be used with concrete that will all have to be hauled in, much of it by hand.  Plans are for a steel structure with a upgrade in roofing to help with the severe storms that pass this way.  Interested in helping?  www.hopeforhaiti.ws

Hope for Haiti newsletter June 2012
Leading right into Summer a group from Michigan will be heading to Haiti June 12th.
All it's takes is a small gesture to start something and we may never have a clue where it will lead. A few years ago a Colorado team purchased a few goats and delivered them to families in the Colmini area. Before long well over 30 families had received goats and beyond that a heard was started at the church/school there, with over 30 additional animals. Now what to do with all these animals as they have the desire to wander.
The word got out there was a need for a fence and simple shelter in this desert area for the animals. So, next week the work goes on as this Michigan team will be reaching out working alongside our friends there to keep these critters corralled.

From the desert to the mountains then to a river basin below. This trail you see was constructed in the past year + all by hand. A fellow from Tennessee visited and shared some trail building skills with the folks in Bataille. The project? Build a trail from the river basin to the top of the mountain allowing possibly a motorcycle or 4 wheeler (still looking for one of these) to be able to make the trip which in time would even allow the local motorcycle taxi's (called tap tap's) to make it up and down the mountain. Only one thing left, build a bridge. One ravine is still holding up the process so a Geotechnical Specialist in Dams has offered some suggestions. Fairly simple but labor intensive suggestions. Rock, rebar, concrete and culverts, I think I'll be gone that day! Pretty much all this will be hand carried a portion of the way which could be a couple miles! Some funding has come in for the team that will be visiting this August to lead a hand. Once completed it will open new doors for carrying produce to market as well as bringing home needed supplies. Lots more to that story and how we got this far... click here for more

Lot's more going on, consider this just a sampling.
– Radio interview with Moody Radio in Chicago
– Another team from Michigan heads to the mountains in July
– Colorado team visit's in July
– Medical Clinic's and training for EMEVI Nurse Vonie (Photo's click here)
– so, please pray for Marcel as his plate is very full.

Needs? Generator repairs on two machines, cistern for Fond Baptist, John Deere Gator : ), sponsors for children...

Thanks for being a blessing. So many of you contribute in ways that cannot be added up, it is appreciated!

Walking with a child

These are a few of the children at Fond Baptist Church/School that are sponsored.  Through sponsor's they have material for new uniforms.  So many children in these rural areas never have an opportunity to go to school, and many of the areas in the mountains have very limited access to any school.  Thank you sponsor's for blessing these children through your prayers and support.  Who knows we may be looking at the next leaders of this area or country that will make a difference for an eternity?  Keep the prayers coming!

Transformation

While at Fond Baptist market this past week, Marcel caught this image as these guys were reforming this pick head.  First the heat then the transformation.  Sometimes we may feel we are in the fire, could it be in preparation for a transformation in us?  Click on the photo for additional images from market day or visit www.hopeforhaiti.ws .

Faces

A time to reflect as 2012 draws close, while 2011 draws to a close.  What has captured your heart this year?  Who has made a difference and have I?  John, Marcel's brother is one who is making a difference.  Click on his picture to see the faces of Haiti and see if any hit home for you.

A look from the inside out

Things can be so dark inside.  Peering out the door can provide a totally different perspective.  Am I being drawn into the Light?

This "Post Office" in Haiti was most interesting.  Wide open doors, no one inside, a railing to keep one from falling downstairs but ready to fall itself.  What state am I in, hungry for the light or satisfied with ???

Getting the Word out

"Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land."  After 12 years in Nepal, Mike joined us in a trip to Haiti sharing the Good News.  How good it is when we can share what God is doing in our lives and how encouraging it is to those that are hungry!  Share the Good News with someone today - there is a hunger out there!
